The Reverend Edwin George Ackerman

The Reverend Edwin George Ackerman, 66, of Lithopolis, Ohio, die Tuesday evening, October 10, 1967, at Grant Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, as the result of a heart attack at a church council meeting.

Reverend Ackerman was born August 26, 1901, in Galion Ohio, the only child born to Raymond Burt and Hilda Margarete Adella (Tracht) Ackerman. He was a graduate of Galion High School, Capital University and Trinity Seminary both of Columbus.  Reverend Ackerman served as Pastor of Paul Lutheran Church, Coldwater, Ohio, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Janera, Ohio, St. John Lutheran Church, Lithopolis, Ohio, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Marcy, Ohio.  He was planning on retirement at the time of his death.

His family includes his wife, the former Edith Meister; children, Raymond and Sarah Ackerman of Hessel, Michigan, William and Jackie Ackerman of Cedarville, Michigan, Phyllis Ackerman of Columbus and Carol Ackerman of Lithopolis; grandchildren, Debbie, Billy, Raymond, Jr. and Margareta.

Visitation was held at Evans Funeral Home, Columbus Thursday, October 12, 1967.  A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 1967, at Grace Lutheran Church, Columbus.  Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
