Russell R. "Russ" Palmer, 61, of De Witt, Iowa, passed away Tuesday morning, December 9, 2025, following a period of declining health.

Russell Robert Palmer was born November 25, 1964, in Oceanside, New York, to Roy and Phyllis (Egeland) Palmer. He was a 1982 graduate of Estherville, High School in Estherville, Iowa. Russ attended Jackson Vocational Technical School in Jackson, Minnesota, where he received training in telephone & electronic repair. He was employed by Sudenga Industries in George, Iowa, for several years. Russ then worked at Crimson Fire Apparatus in Brandon, South Dakota as an Electrical Designer until his retirement. Russ married Michelle "Shelly" Seivert April 13, 1996, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon, Iowa. As a married couple, they resided in Rock Rapids, Iowa, prior to moving to Lake Madison, South Dakota, a place they dearly loved. They greatly enjoyed camping, boating, entertaining and a host of other activities.

In addition to spending time with Shelly doing their various activities, Russ enjoyed tinkering in his shop, home maintenance and woodworking.

After loosing the love of his life, Shelly, on September 6, 2021, Russ moved to De Witt, Iowa to be closer to his brother and family.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Scott Palmer (Dana) of De Witt, mother-in-law Lynn Seivert and sister-in-law Dawn Seivert both of Sheldon, Iowa. His nieces & nephew, Morgan Busby (Collin) & boys Ford & Palmer of Jacksonville, Illinois, Sierra Seivert of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Dominic Seivert (Dr. Erin) of Sheldon, Iowa and their children Kellen, Evie, and Brea along with a host of extended family and friends.

Russ was preceded in death by his wife, Shelly, his parents, father-in-law Dean Seivert, brother-in-law Troy Seivert, and other extended family members.

At Russell's request, no visitation or service will be held. Interment will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa at a later date.

Ackerman Funeral Directors & Cremation Service have been entrusted with and are caring for Russ and his family.
