Mr. Rodney O. “Rod” Wold, 83, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Friday morning, March 27, 2026, in the comfort of his home.
Rodney Orville Wold was born June 23, 1942, in Hillsboro, Wisconsin, to the late Orville and Lois (Weber) Wold. The family resided in there prior to moving to DeWitt where Rod graduated from High School. He married Diane Rae Busch, June 10, 1967, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. This union was blessed with a daughter, Lisa Lynn. The couple owned and operated Wold’s Petro Stop in DeWitt, a place where Rodney found great joy as he was still tinkering with projects at the time of his death. He was employed by Central Community Schools as a bus driver and mechanic for 30 plus years, another occupation he thoroughly enjoyed. When it came to mechanics, he was one of the best. Diane preceded Rodney in death November 18, 2015.
He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. Rod greatly enjoyed visiting with people, especially at car shows with his Ford, Ltd., which he took great pride in.
His family includes his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Josh Ivanoff and their son, Jakob of Anna, Texas; siblings, David Wold and his wife, Barb of DeWitt, Jack Wold and his wife, Cindy of Donahue, Iowa, and Sharon Wold of DeWitt; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; Kenneth and Karen Fanderclai of Fulton, Illinois, Cheryl Koenes of Comanche, Iowa, and Alan, Sr. and Julie Busch of Clinton, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Rodney was preceded in death by nephews, Doug Wold, Dennis Wold, John Wold, Brian Mumm and Jim Pawski; great-nephews, Justin Wold and Lucas Jewett; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernie and Dorothy Busch; and brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Dennis Busch, Larry Busch and LaRaine and Dennis Mumm.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m Wednesday, April 8, 2026. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt with the Reverend John Dolde officiating. Interment will follow with a luncheon being held in Grace Hall.
