Mrs. Margret Ellin Drewry, age 92, of Oconto, Wisconsin, died peacefully, Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2026. at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, surrounded by loved ones. 

 She was born November 4, 1933 in Wichita, Kansas to Archie and Lucille (nee, Burt) Parker. Margret spent her early life in Madison, WI where she graduated from Madison-East High School and later the University of Wisconsin, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. While in high school she began working at Schoep’s Ice Cream in Madison and continued in her college years. While at the UW Margret met a pre-veterinary med student, George Henry Drewry, and they married on July 9, 1955 at Plymouth Congregational Church. The couple moved to Minneapolis while George completed degrees at Veterinary School and Margret worked at Dayton’s Department Store. After graduation Dr. George and Margret lived in Phillips, WI for a few years before moving to Oconto in 1963 and establishing a veterinary practice where Margret worked alongside her husband as a business manager. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2001. She was most recently a resident of the Meadowbrook in Oconto Falls.

Margret was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir, and also was a member of the Oconto Woman’s Club and Homemaker’s Club and the Homemaker’s choir. She was an active volunteer in the community and enjoyed her interests in gardening, knitting and sewing while also raising her family. Her interest in travel led to touring in several European countries.


She is survived by children, Cary/Carol Yudes, Jody/George (Karen) Drewry and Timothy Drewry; grandchildren, Melissa (Gup) Gannigan, Kirk (Lexi) Yudes, Jason (Sarah) Stoner, Samuel Drewry and Lance Drewry; and great-grandchildren, Beth Gannigan, Tom Gannigan, and Audrey, Logan and Bodhi Stoner.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margret was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robin Yudes; a great-grandson, Jack Gannigan; and a daughter-in-law, Christine Drewry.


Visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church in Oconto on Tuesday, June 9th beginning at 10 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Roald Harswick officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
