Kathy Dawn Showens

Kathy Showens, 62, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, November 25, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt.

The former Kathy Dawn Jones was born October 16, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Carroll Robert and Winifred (Meyer) Jones. She was a graduate of Romeoville, Illinois, High School. Kathy married Bobby Eugene Showens, June 3, 1989, in Davenport, Iowa.  This union was blessed with two children, Ashley and John.  They family resided in various places prior to settling in Grand Mound, Iowa, and later DeWitt.  Kathy lovingly carried out her vocation as a homemaker, caring for her husband and children.  Her husband Bobby preceded her in death January 12, 2021.

In her free time, you could find Kathy in her garden or lovingly making her home the best place possible.  She loved spending time with her family.  Kathy enjoyed baking and was known for her pumpkin rolls.  She also enjoyed a good game of water volleyball.  

Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Rory Paulsen of Welton and her son, John Showens of DeWitt; her grandson, Braylan Paulsen and her granddaughter, Addilyn Paulsen both of Welton; her father and mother, Robert and Carolyn Jones of Sugar Grove, Illinois; her brothers, Robert Jones of Bolingbrook, Illinois, and Keith Jones of Plainfield, Illinois; her brother-in-law, Michael Showens of Cottonwood, Arizona; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Bobby, Kathy was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Sharon (Goben) Showens; her sister-in-law, Pamela Showens and her brother-in-law, Arthur Showens, Jr.
