Kathy Dawn Showens

Kathy Showens, 62, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, November 25, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt.

The former Kathy Dawn Jones was born October 16, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Carroll Robert “Bob” and Carolyn Winifred (Moyer) Jones. She was a graduate of Romeoville, Illinois, High School. Kathy married Bobby Eugene Showens, June 3, 1989, in Davenport, Iowa. This union was blessed with two children, Ashley and John. The family resided in various places prior to settling in Grand Mound, Iowa, and later DeWitt. Kathy lovingly carried out her vocation as a homemaker, caring for her husband and children. Her husband Bobby preceded her in death January 12, 2021.

In her free time, you could find Kathy in her garden or lovingly making her home the best place possible. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. They were everything to her. Kathy enjoyed baking and was known for her pumpkin rolls. She also enjoyed a good game of water volleyball.

Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Rory Paulsen of Welton and her son, John Showens of DeWitt; her grandson, Braylan Paulsen and her granddaughter, Addilyn Paulsen both of Welton; her father and mother, Bob and Carolyn Jones of Yorkville, Illinois; her brothers, CR “Bob” Jones, Jr. of Bolingbrook, Illinois, and Keith David Jones of Plainfield, Illinois; her brother-in-law, Michael Showens of Cottonwood, Arizona; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Bobby, Kathy was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Sharon (Goben) Showens; her sister-in-law, Pamela Showens and her brother-in-law, Arthur Showens, Jr.

A Celebration of Life Potluck Gathering will be held from 12 noon until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Emmaus Road Church, 1811 Elmwood Road, DeWitt, Iowa 52742.
