Mr. Dennis C. Stutzel, 83, of Rockville, Maryland, formerly of Long Grove, Iowa, died Monday morning, November 10, 2025, at Adventist Health Care Shady Grove Medical Center, Rockville.

Dennis Carl Stutzel was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1942. His parents were Carl Lester and Evalyn Alice (Johannsen) Stutzel. He was a Baptized and Confirmed Child of God at Grace Lutheran Church by the Reverend Theodore E. Hinck.  Dennis was a 1960 graduate of North Scott High School, Eldridge, Iowa, the first class to graduate from the new high school.  Dennis received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso Indiana.  He was united in marriage to Pamela Lee Hunt in the Chapel at Valparaiso.  The couple resided in Maryland where they raised their family.  Dennis was employed as an Electrical Engineer at the Department of Defense Naval Ordinance Laboratory for many years until retirement.  His wife, Pam preceded him in death April 2, 2009.

Dennis enjoyed wood working, photography, country and western music, collecting old clocks and genealogy research.  

His family includes his children, Shawn Stutzel of Rockville and Kasey Stutzel-Heiss and her fiancé, Shawn Tate of Winder, Georgia; his grandchildren, Taylor Heiss and Cameron Heiss of Winder; his sister, Denise Smith and her husband, Steven of Long Grove; a niece, Apryl Onken of DeWitt, Iowa, and a nephew, Lance Smith of Clinton; great-nephews, Ezra Onken, Brody Onken and Logan Smith; great-nieces, EmmaGrace Hartmann and Cassidy Smith; numerous cousins.

Preceding Dennis in death in addition to his wife, were his parents; a son, Robert Dennis Stutzel and an infant sister, Florette Fern Stutzel.  

The family will receive relatives and friends at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025. The Rite of Christian Burial commemorating Dennis' life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Church with the Reverend Merle Warnsholz officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Memorials may be made to the family or Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Heiss, Lance Smith, Brody Onken, Ezra Onken, Logan Smith and Shawn Tate.
