Mrs. Beverly J. Schrader, 89 of DeWitt, Iowa, died peacefully Thursday evening, March 26, 2026, at Maggie’s House Assisted Living, DeWitt where she had resided for the past several years.
Bev was born Beverly Jean Collier July 5, 1936, at rural LeClaire, Iowa. Her parents were the late Charles and Ida (Andersen) Collier. She married Glenn Joseph Schrader April 1, 1955 in LeClaire. The couple resided at rural DeWitt where they farmed and raised their daughter and three sons. Bev was employed as a custodian at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt for many years, a position that she dearly loved, dedicating herself in service to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bev was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in the Bell Choir and numerous other activities. She belonged to Grace Lutheran Women where she made many quilts and organized funeral luncheons for numerous years. She loved Yorkie’s and enjoyed the new friends she made at Maggie’s House and their activities, especially the weekly bus outings.
Her family includes a daughter, Wendy Studer of Centerville, Iowa; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Cheryl Schrader of DeWitt; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Tina Schrader of Texas; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn on April 26, 2009; a son, John Paul Schrader on February 6, 2012; a son-in-law, Jim Studer; brothers, George Collier and Edward Collier and a sister, June Schnoor.
The family will receive friends at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt from 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday at Elmwood Cemetery, on DeWitt with the Reverend John Dolde officiating. Burial will follow. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Buzzy’s in Welton. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Maggies’s House Assisted Living. The family requests casual dress.
